Hi, I'm Kadee. I'm a Kansas State graduate, I'm 32 years old, and I live in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. I work for St. Luke's Health System as the manager of benefits and communications, and I'm a Wildcat.

Why did you decide to finish your degree?

When I was hired at St. Luke's Health System, I actually didn't have a degree and a degree was required, but I have had several years of experience. So they hired me with the intent that I would finish my degree within a short period of time. I had started at a previous school, transferred all my credits online, and ended up going through 12–15 classes at 3 credits each online.

How did you balance school with work and home?

The balance of work life and home was difficult at times, but you have to be dedicated and you have to know what your goal is, and my goal was to graduate. So my children and my husband come first. I went to work, then played with my kids and did family things in the evening, and when everybody went to bed, I would study. But it's very rewarding to get that degree in the end, so it was all time well spent.

How did completing your degree change your life?

I finished my degree and upon graduation, about a month later I received a promotion to move into a management role, and since have moved again into a higher management role within the company.

Did you travel to Manhattan for graduation?

I did attend graduation, and it was probably one of the most emotionally unplanned days that I have experienced. I went on campus the night before where they did like a little tea for the graduates that were graduating online, and so it was my first time ever on campus at K-State. What I thought was just going to be a simple walk across the stage was a very emotional and very rewarding day to have that accomplishment behind me—a lot of hours put into a great accomplishment.

Would you do it all over again?

If you haven't gone to college and you didn't finish your degree and you need to, I would definitely recommend online college.
